YESTERDAYS PICK RESULTS
S2thuhB: 11-11
L's: XX-XX
Phillsz: 11-11
Who Will Have the Lower Back 9 Score: Ernie Els or Tie / Tiger Woods
Tiger is a 11/4 favorite to win this tournament, while Els is at 60/1. Woods has been HOT lately, coming out on top at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship in Miami last weekend, while Els finished in 28th. Woods averages a close-to 2 stroke lower per-round score at 68.9, compared to 70.8 for Els. Woods averages 4.88 birdies/round, while Els only averages 2.92.
Woods won this tourney last year, ending at -13, while Els ended T4 at -5. Woods took this prop twice, Els took it once, and they tied once through the 4 rounds. With how Woods is playing lately, I have to go with him here.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Woods (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Woods ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
Valparaiso WoSDL vs Michigan State WbDD:
The Spartans are currently favored by 11, and they could easily pull of the DD win here, though Valparaiso can hit the 3, averaging 7.5 3PM/G. As long as Michigan State can limit their 3Pt opportunities, which should be easy, as they’re currently 27th in the nation with a 3PT/FG% against of 30.1, they should take it by 13-15.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Michigan State WbDD (Kush)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:MSU ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
Bucknell Bison vs Butler Bulldogs:
Butler are current -4 favorites here. Take the team that’s made the finals in 2010 and 2011, though they didn’t make the tourney last year.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Butler (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Butler Kush
Will’s Pick:
Who Will Have the Lower First Round Score: Sergio Garcia or Tie / Phil Mickelson
Last year in this tournament, Mickelson shot a -1, while Garcia ended with a +1. They ended tied through the first round, Garcia took the second by 4 strokes, and Mickelson took 3 and 4 by 4 strokes.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Mickelson (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Mickelson ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
Wichita State Shockers vs Pittsburgh Panthers:
Pitt opened up as 4 point favorites and are -200 to win the game. On the year, Pitt went 24-8, 12-6 in the Big East, and are 2-2 on neutral courts. Wichita St went 26-8, 12-6 in the MVC, and are 5-1 on neutral courts. There is no doubt Pitt has had the tougher schedule and much better opponents at this point in the season. I expect Wichita to keep it close, but Pitt wins by 7 off late FT's.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Pittsburgh (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Pitt ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
New Mexico State WoSDL vs Saint Louis WbDD:
St.Louis opened as 9.5 point favorites, and are -450 to win overall. See a closer game than odds indicate here, but honestly St.Louis has been BALLING all season. Prop can go either way, I'm leaning more on the side of a 6-8 point final deficit.
S2thuhB’s Pick: St Louis WbDD (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: New Mexico SDL ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
St Mary’s Gaels vs Memphis Tigers:
This game is a true toss up in my eyes. Memphis comes in as a slight favorite at -1/ -115, but the Gaels are -105 to win. This match up honestly comes down to how good MD can play after looking real good in a game Tuesday. Once again, close game here but I like the Gaels.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Memphis (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Tigers switched last min ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
Davidson Wildcats vs Marquette Golden Eagles:
Marquette come in as 3 point favorites, and are -165 to win the game. Honestly I feel Marquette should be favored by more being they play in the Big East and have faced quite better teams, and beaten better teams as well. Davidson has decent ranks nationally with their offense, but Marquette plays defense like most other teams in the Big East. I see a big win for Marquette here.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Marquette (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Marquette ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
Brazil Win vs. Italy W/D:
This is an international friendly in Switzerland, with Brazil favored to win. Brazil are easily the better team, and have won 5 of the 6 matchups against Italy, though 4 of those were prior to 1995. In the 2 most recent in 2009, Brazil won 2-0 and 3-0.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Brazil (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Brazil ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
Southern U vs Gonzaga: Gonzaga Wins by 20+ / AOR
Gonzaga are currently favored by 22, and I don’t see a logical argument against picking them.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Gonzaga 20+ (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Zags 20+ ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
Oregon Ducks vs Oklahoma State Cowboys:
OK ST Come in as 2 point favorites and are -135 to win the game. Ok ST definitely has more talent with a big 3 of Marcus Smart, Markel Brown, And LeBryan Nash, but Oregon has a scrappy bunch on their side. I really feel OK St pulls through here, but wouldn't be surprised at all if Oregon finds a way to escape here with a narrow victory. If Oregon keeps their turnovers down from the guard positions which will be difficult with Smart and Brown hounding them, they will have a chance to win.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Oklahoma State (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Ok St ( Dro )
Will’s Pick:
North Carolina A&T vs Louisville: Louisville Wins by 25+ / AOR
Louisville are currently -27 favorites here, though a 25 point win is a lot so I can’t take them with full confidence, though they’ll probably cover.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Louisville 25+ (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Ville 25+
Will’sPick:
New Jersey Devils @ Carolina Hurricanes:
Carolina are currently favored at -120 to win this one. Carolina is 6-3-1 in their last 10 at home against the Devils. The Devils are 4-6-4 on the road this season, while Carolina is an even 7-7 at home.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Hurricaines (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Canes ( Dro )
Will’s Pick:
Montreal Canadians @ New York Islanders:
Montreal are favored to win this one at -125, and own the H2H in Long Island 6-3-1. The Canadians are hot right now, going 7-1-2 in their last 10 games, while the Islanders are 5-3-2. The Islanders are 5-9-2 at home this year, while the Canadians hold a great 10-2-2 record on the road.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Canadians (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Montreal ( Kush )
WillPick:
Denver Pioneers @ Maryland Terrapins:
Maryland are currently -5 favorites to win, and have home court in this one. Mayland has some big wins over tough competition at home, though denver has the 13th best FG% in the nation at 48.1%, and are 8th in assists at 16.4/G. They also average nearly 8 3PM/G.
Maryland on the other hand has the 12th best FG% against in the league at 38.3%, and are 33rd in 3PT% at 30.4%. As long as the Terrapins play defense, they should take this easily.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Maryland (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:MD ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Buffalo Sabres:
Buffalo are 8-1-1 in their last 10 at home against Toronto. Buffalo is a weak home team, going 5-6-2 this season, while Toronto are a respectable road team, going 9-6-0. Toronto holds the edge in GPG by .5, and GAPG by .4. With that, Buffalo’s dominance over Toronto at home makes this an easy pick IMO.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Buffalo (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Leafs ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
South Dakota State WoSDL vs Michigan WbDD:
The Wolvarines are currently favored by 11, and they should easily pull of the DD win here. It’s worth noting however, that SD State average 7.8 3PM/G.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Michigan WbDD (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Michigan DD ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
How Many Points Will Michigan Score in the First Half:
The OU in for the game is at 141, so that’s 70.5/half in this one, meaning each team would get 35/half. However, Michigan are the stronger team and favored by 11, though SD State only average 65.6 PA/PG so it may be close, but I still think Michigan scores 35 in the half.
S2thuhB’s Pick: 35+ (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:35+ ( Dro )
Will’s Pick:
Belmont 3PM / Arizona Winning Margin:
Arizona are -5 favorites at the moment, and Belmont average 8.5 3PM/G, while Arizona’s average margin of victory is 9.6. It’s worth noting that Arizona’s 3FG% against is 36%, so the 3-ball’s will be flying for Belmont, only question is how many will fall?
S2thuhB’s Pick: Arizona Reggie)
L's Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Az ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
California Golden Bears vs UNLV Rebels:
UNLV come in as 3 point favorites and are -155 to win the game. Big talent will be the deciding factor in this game. Anthony Bennett for UNLV, and Allen Crabbe for Cal will have to have big games for their sides. For Cal to pull it out, Justin Cobbs has to be taking and making smart shots, and not turning it over a ton. Like Cal here honestly.
S2thuhB’s Pick: UNLV (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Cal ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
Calgary Flames @ Nashville Predators:
Predators are -140 favorites to win here, though they haven’t fared well against Calgary at home, going 2-1-2 in their last 5, and a mere 3-5-2 in their last 10. Nashville are 6-2-4 at home this year, while Calgary are 3-7-2 on the road. Nashville at home average 2.5 GFPG and 1.58 GA, while Calgary average 2.17 GF but give up an average of 3.5. It’s a toss-up at best here, and I’d look for a better pick.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Nashville (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Preds ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
Who Will Have the First 3PM in the 2ndHalf: SD State / Michigan
Watch the first half and see how each team is shooting from behind the arc.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Mighigan (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Michigan ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
Missouri Tigers vs Colorado State Rams:
Mizzou come in as 3 point favorites and are -150 to win. Mizzou has been inconsistent all year, and you simply cannot trust them on SFTC or in betting terms. I wouldn't touch this game, but if I HAD TO , Mizzou.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Missouri (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Mizzou ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
Akron WoSDL vs VCU WbDD:
VCU are currently favored by 8. VCU has played the tougher schedule between the 2, and I think they can pull of a DD victory.
S2thuhB’s Pick: VCU WbDD (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick: Vcu DD ( Kush )
Will’s Pick:
Harvard FTMoT / New Mexico Winning Margin:
New Mexico are currently 11 point favorites to win this one, and they’re average margin of victory is 7.1 points. Harvard on the other hand averages nearly 17 FTM/G, while NM average 15.4 PF/G. Harvard also average 6.2 3PM/G. As long as they stay out of foul trouble the Lobos will win this one, but I’m not too confident they’ll be able to win by enough to cover.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Harvard FTMoT (Reggie)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:NM ( Reggie )
Will’s Pick:
Montana vs Syracuse: Syracuse by 15+ / AOR
Syracuse are currently favored by 13, and have struggled on offense at points this year, though usually against tough competition. Montana is not that type of competition. Syracuse’s average margin of victory is 11.3, while they’re FG%/Against is 5th in the nation at 37.7%. Montana’s on the other hand, is a mere 42.7%. As long as they can score, which I don’t think will be a problem Syracuse should cover this one.
S2thuhB’s Pick: Syracuse (Dro)
L's’s Pick:
Phillsz’s Pick:Cuse ( Dro )
Will’s Pick:
Vancouver Canucks @ Phoenix Coyotes:
The lines are close in this game, though Phoenix are 1-3-1 in their last 5, while the Canucks are 3-2. Phoenix is 5-3-2 in their last 5 at home over the Canucks, though 5 of those games went to OT/SO. The Canucks are 6-4-3 on the road this year, while the Coyotes are 10-5-1 at home. This’ll be a close one, but I gotta take the home team here.
